Do you love reading? Did you just put on a play? Do you follow politics? Do you dream of being a writer? Do you ever wonder what university might be like? If so, HYP is for you.
The Humanities for Young People (HYP) is a new residential summer program for bright and highly-motivated students from ages 15 to 17. It will take place at the University of King’s College in Halifax, Nova Scotia from July 7th–15th, 2018. Secondary school students from across the country will have the unique opportunity to work closely and collaboratively with scholars from a variety of disciplines.

During your time at McMaster University, you will be able to experience hands on workshops, campus/residence life and expand your soft skills! Science Opportunity for Students in Grades 10 - 12

TD Discovery Day in Health Sciences
Event Date: May 16, 2018

An insightful and fun hands-on workshop for students in grades 10 through 12, interested in a career in health science and technology. This full day event held at McMaster University Student Learning Centre, in Hamilton, is an exciting opportunity for students, from across the province, to explore careers in medicine and health sciences.  Students will benefit from an inspiring keynote lecture, two hands-on-workshops of their choosing, and an interactive laboratory experiment demonstration.

If you are interested in attending this event, you must submit a short (approximately 200 words) summary describing why you would like to attend.  Each school is initially allowed to register two students. More spots may open up after the first round of registrations has closed.

All applications must be emailed to Mrs. Tummon (tummonh@hdsb.ca) by 8am on Thursday March 29th. Two students will be selected to attend and additional students will be selected if spots become available.  Mrs. Tummon will confirm via email once your submission has been received. If you do not receive a confirmation, your application has not been submitted.  The two selected students will be notified by the end of the day on March 29th.

Please note:  There is no cost to attend, however students must provide their own transportation to and from the event.  Although arranged through OTHS, there will NOT be teacher supervisor at the event.

TEDxUofT Conference - Saturday March 10th, 2018

This event is being held at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts in downtown Toronto. It will include 12 speakers and 2 performances. Both breakfast and lunch are included in the ticket price. Topics range from the Artificial Intelligence Revolution, Women in STEM and Humanitarian Efforts in Sryria. Students will also have an opportunity to interact with the speakers during the event.

If you are interested in Business, and currently in grades 10 or 11, this summer Leadership Program might be for you.

High School Health Research Bursary Program
Competition Closes: April 2 2018. 4:00p.m.

An invaluable opportunity for top high school science students in grades 11 and 12 to apply for a seven-week summer internship placement program working alongside Hamilton world-class researchers and team members July 3  – August 17, 2018.
